Who were they?
North Elmham Football Club is the local village team that was formed after lockdown. I have been assistant coach of the youth team since their formation as an under-8 side and have also played for the Mens' team.
What did I do?
I made this short documentary on the rising success of North Elmham football club for my final project at the end of the first year of my college course at City College in Norwich.
We were tasked with taking the knowledge we had learnt and gained from our first year and put it into a project of our choosing. Consequently, I decided to make a documentary that was close to my heart. I love football and selecting to make film about a club that I have been involved with since the rebirth back in 2020 felt very right and documenting the club's first league win in nearly a decade proved to be very fortuitous in terms of drama and content.
I spilt the film into two pieces - interviews and match footage - as I felt style wise this helped with the pacing and the flow of the film. I interviewed the club's chairman and founder, and one of the youth coaches, both whom I had worked very closely with before and after this project. It was produced, created, edited and directed solely by myself, with revisions and corrections over seen by my tutors.
